Day 2...Fweeeewwww!

Well, Day 2 proved to be quite a day.  We started off easy enough, meeting at 7:30am (Jackson time).  We had a mini meeting and then the students got a chance to pack their own lunches.  Tasty choices!  PB and J, Ham/Turkey/Roast Beef sandwiches with all the fixings, pop-tarts...you name it!  Once every had a lunch packed, the breakfast line opened and we were treated to some excellent cooking.  Eggs, hotcakes, bacon, cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit and more graced our tables.

After Elise, Ashley, and Jessica volunteered for dish duty and Seth and David cleaned up the eating area.

We had a little time to ourselves and then the day really started.  We began with a 10,500ft ascent via the Jackson Hole Tram and nice hike to earn our lunch.  I can say that altitude and air pressure difference definitely had us appreciating the sites AND how easy it is to breath in Lancaster.  Even at our school, we're at 6500ft which is a healthy difference form Lancaster's typical 300-400ft.

Any way, Kelley, our guide, didn't miss pointing out any of the beautiful sites and some really cool facts.

Lunch with a View
Hi Five for snow in August!

We then hiked back UP and took a break along the way for some journaling.

It's been nice that Kelley has given us time to journal during the trip.  She's right, too, these journals will be a treasure when the students get older.  About now, my camera/phone died so the rest of the photos are to be compiled into an album online for today.  In fact, we will keep an online album every day and just post Hi-lights here.

Today's album (which is still growing) is: Tetons Trip Day 1

After that we took a ride on a ski lift a couple of times (kind of cool since I have never come DOWN the other side) ans it was very relaxing.  We then got in the car and headed towards the National Park and stopped in at the visitor's center. We learned about the history of the Tetons, the science behind them and how it turned into such a destination.  We even learned where the word Hole came from as it refers to Jackson!  We looked at some different animal skins (Bear, Mt Lion, Wolf, Beaver, Badger, and Wolverine) and learned a lot of what this area meant not only to the western settlers and traders, but to the modern inhabitants as well.

Moreover, we leanred about what it meant to the Native Americans and how their rich appreciation for the land still permeates the area today.

It is said that one trip to the Tetons is enough to change someone's life forever.  You can now call me Delta.

Finally, we ended with a wonderful slow float down the Snake.

We had a great guide and he made it a super special experience.  The hoppers were out, mayflies were everywhere, a Hendricks or two made an appearance, and some fish were nipping at the surface.

Even better we saw 2 Prong Horn, 7 Beavers, Male and Female Bald Eagle, 1 Bull Moose, 1 Coyote, and a handful of others I can't remember.

While, I can't remember the end, what I do remember will last a long time.  And I am sure the kiddoes will maintain that as well.  And in case you were wondering....we did eat dinner.  Super awesome pizzas at Dornan's.  Check it out if you're ever in Jackson.  Every Monday night they have a "hootenanny" which sounds like a "Hoot".

We finally got back to camp at 9:30pm.  It's now 10:45.  Signing off, Mr. Delta Bibiloni.

Looking Back it Was a Great Day!
